Great day today. I got to sleep in a full hour thanks to the delayed Wednesday start time, I got all of my report card grades in on time, and I had three super lessons. The first was an author talk with lots of creative writing. My kids were beautifully behaved and I didn't have to lift a finger. The second class was my Generals, and although they were mightily pissed at having to change seats, I actually taught a lesson through the entirety of the period with no more problems than usual. The third class was my homeroom, and although they were absolutely zoo-ey yesterday, I got to split them in half today and send off the worst ones with Rosalind, my semi-support teacher.

(Rosalind, by the way, is one of the most likeable teachers I have ever met. She spent her last year teaching in my mom's old neighborhood in Gomorrah, so we're both new to the Sodom Heights School District in general and Hogsboro High in particular. Her specialities are Drama and English, and since she taught Macbeth last year, she's been a great help to me as I muddle through this month. As teachers in this great province, we're obliged to take on the equivalent of another 2/3 of a course over the span of the year...and fortunately for me, she was assigned to me. The two of us are having a ball - team teaching is so much more fun than the usual isolationist model. Next semester I'll be helping her with her Drama classes, which'll be a riot. Improv games for all! Maybe I can get Jesse to come in and consult. *smirk*)

Anyway, since I was up last night marking and since today was Report Card Day, I'm taking the night off. Just some lesson planning, some fresh pasta and "The West Wing." What could be sweeter?!

come on!

In other news, I found this picture on Monday. My Angels - so young, so thin. Comparatively speaking, that is. (In the interests of full disclosure, I have gained between 5 and 10 pounds (it varies) since the year this was taken. We all were thinner then.)
