note: any name in an entry that is not listed here, in the older ontario who page or in the nova scotia and america pages is either an old greek drama pseudonym that i've carried over to this journal, or belongs to someone who appears so infrequently that i don't care to list them, or is really really new.

note 2: gd = sassarella denotes their greek drama equivalent (just like in roman mythology!)

who are they?

Blake a.k.a. the Sprout, the Boo, Mr. Man, Sprouticus, Scarborough. Our rocketchild launched on December 8, 2003. I never guessed that I could be so helplessly in love with someone who screams so much in the night and smiles so much in the day.
The Boy First among equals, as befits a husband & babydaddy. Our vectors converged for all time on August 19th, 2000. There is more about him almost every day if you're hungry for more detail. I may not have married rich, but I did marry fun. gd = Trevor
Coraline Little Spider's best friend. They date two brothers and share a brain....it's all so Jane Austen, dressed up with henna & Emily Strange accessories.
Dirk Nightshade Usually sleeping, but can sometimes be called upon for impromptu goth dancing (when he's not moving or simply gloating over his enormous treasure trove of stuff). As Palaver, he's the mouthy component of Tisiphone's Angels. Our relationship is one constantly-enfolding conversation, which is rare & priceless. Roommate to St. Peter as well as brother to history babe Lucretia Nightshade. gd = Palaver
Exodus The Boy's best friend & coincidentally his best man. Gamer geeks to the extreme in higschool, they seem to be getting better now. But I always know a King Magic tournament is afoot when the Boy starts sucking up to me.
Ian One of those guys you knew in highschool who acted perpetually stoned & came away with straight A's - he's utterly shameless about academia and his place in it. Crooked, sweet smile and too many comic books, Ian is currently working in the cesspools of Toronto media, pitching series ideas and trying to scam interviews with Neil Gaiman.
Little Spider

We've been friends for more than a decade now, which has made it an interesting & happy ten years. She's currently earning her beer & skittles with media design and living in fashionable Parkdale with her dog Violet. She knits for Satan. gd = Maharet

Maeve My first friend in Bat Masterson High, she knows the Nightshades and appreciates wit. We giggle a lot.
Mason Talking to him is like taking a deep breath - one of the most calming people I know. I'm teaching him how to knit so that he can impress his wife. Could you die from the cute?
Nic Baby brother, younger by a mere 18 months and heavily involved with straight-edge punk, vegetarianism and social justice. A social worker by training and a roadie by inclination, Nic lives with my parents after 3 months in Vancouver and a year in Winnipeg. He's equal parts curious cutie pie and insufferable bratling, but things are never dull in his immediate area.
Opera Sarah We have mutual friends, but now that we're on the mommy track together, those run-ins are more frequent. Wife of Leo, mom of Demi. Turn-ons include shrimp rings & crazy vampires using an Etch-a-Sketch as a Palm Pilot. Turn-offs include Mozart's Alleluia chorus & people who refuse to sell her strange contact lenses.
The Original Six A group rather than a person, the Original Six is made up of almost all the moms & babies from our prenatal class. In age order we have Ciaran Chicago, Dexter Detroit, Robbie Toronto, Eva New York, Blake Boston & Sydney Montreal (and their pretty moms, too.)
Poppy The coolest guidance counsellor I know. I'm teaching her to knit so that she can make things for her upcoming twins.
The Purple Lassitude

Not a turn of the century tropical ailment; rather, the Purple Lassitude is the third car to travel under the name HMSS Lassitude. Yes, it is purple. It also used to belong to my mother, and it is the first of the Lassitudes to be made within the last few years (the other two having rolled off the assembly line in 88). As follows from the general inertia this car engenders, we're now too lazy to think of a proper name for this troisieme auto.

Saint Jack

The former housemate of Saint Stephen and Saint Peter - they've lived many places together, but most notably in the Alpha Sigma Sigma frat haus. As for Jack himself, he's been blessed with an eccentric, flamboyant personality that spent three productive years in Montreal, but once again graces Toronto proper. gd = Trotski

Saint Peter A rising opera star who brings priceless prestige to all of our lives. He lives with his girlf, pursuing a music degree at U of T in the fall and winter and touring with various ensembles in the spring and summer. gd = Braveheart
Scherezade Takes care of me when I need it, tells me when I'm being a drama queen (which is frequently), buys me nice things on my birthday, sends me rude postcards when overseas. Was in Den Haag for the three years, then Sierra Leone, where she met her sweetie. Back in town, yet oddly unavailable. gd = Sister Sunshine
Scout My newest, youngest sister and my maid of honour. She used to be quite normal, but she became weirder as college wrapped it's beery tentacles around her fragile soul... Currently enjoying her first job as a paramedic, she adds another dimension to the nurse-social worker-teacher trifecta I've got going on with my mother and Nic.
Spike Little Spider's boyf (who went away for awhile to be miserable). Very quiet, except when he's making fun of my driving.
Stacy A U of T alumni who works for herself. Although we met of our own free will, certain inexorable forces were pushing us together anyway. She currently lives in zen-like simplicity in the Village, writing scripts, making movies, dancing absurdities, swooning prettily and stitching together strange dreams.
Violet Little Spider has lucked out in owning the Cutest Puppy on the Face of the Earth. She's the size of a loaf of bread and can sulk like a diva. She lives with her "mommy" in a little apartment in Parkdale, and has apparently learned how to do dishes when her mommy isn't feeling well. Okay, that last part was a lie. But you knew that, right?
