Today I got a foot cramp in the middle of a lecture. I had to stop and massage my foot until the pain receded. I am very proud of myself as I managed to get through the entire incident without crying or swearing a blue streak (both of which I am wont to do during a foot cramp). The kids were a mixture of concerned and amused. Some thought they should call the office "just in case I was in labour." I told them that it was extremely rare for labour to start with the feet.

This weekend was terrific. For the first time in years, I spent Thanksgiving weekend relaxed and happy instead of depressed (last year) or stressed (hosting my parents in Nova). Our plans were simple: the Boy's father called last month and we'd made arrangements for Sunday dinner. My family and the Boy's mother asked us out midway through last week, but we refused all invitations with less than a week's notice. It's just better that way. The result was that we stayed in on Saturday & Monday, and spent Sunday on the road. Very peaceful, I must say.

Dinner at the Boy's father's house was nothing short of magnificent. All the traditional foods were done to a turn, and we spent the afternoon trading happy stories. Scout took the opportunity to give us the box of baby clothes she's collected over the past few months (yes, you heard me - the BOX), and topped off the clothes with a rocking chair. I was actually relieved to find out that it was a chair; when I saw the huge box, I had giddy visions of even more baby clothes. I also got a little Baby gap layette from the Boy's father & stepmom...beautiful stuff, and it means that the Sprout will have clothing for at least one day of his/her newborn life. Of course, I have yet to go through the Big Box of Baby Clothes, so I'm sure there are untold riches in it. Currently it's sitting in my trunk, as we're trying to keep our transition time between the car and the apartment door at an absolute minimum to avoid FCN. Pair this desire with the fact that the Boy has to do most of the lifting these days, and you end up with a lot of stuff that stays in the car overnight.

But we're dealing.

(It's Tuesday, and FCN always has her worst fits on Tuesday. I can't wait to see what the night has in store for us! Last night she stood at her window as we pulled out of the driveway and repeatedly gave us the finger. It's like we're being taunted by a leather-lunged pre-teen.)

On a much happier note, the Boy's father & stepmom are redecorating a whole room of their house for the Sprout. They have rolls of butterfly wallpaper, a little bed, a rocking horse, and a collection of plush toys. It's beautiful and it makes me well up every time we go over.

Last night we made the short drive to Loftwyr & Gilamonstre's house for a night of peppermint tea & B-movies. I have to admit, I really enjoyed "Killer Clowns From Outer Space" - it was the perfect end to our weekend of slack. Eventually we were kicked out because I have yet to throw up during my pregnancy and this is offensive to some (smirk). If I'd had my act together, I might have also left with a Hallowe'en costume. Oh well. I'm working on it.

Booty Call: Day 221 - When baby is normally most active (like when you are lying down to try to sleep!), you should count about 10 movements in two hours.
