Just to clarify, I'm currently on the kind of diet that relies on the contents of my parents' kitchen.

This is because I hate grocery shopping. It's like a bloody war out there. Last week, Loblaws ran out of both chicken and canned pineapple. This was a problem, because I was really craving some chicken pineapple stirfry. So I went to Food Basics for the first time in 10 years, and I can confidently say that it's still pretty dodgy there. But I did pick up some canned pineapple. I figured you can't really go wrong with that tinned stuff. Then I went to No Frills, the very store that I was avoiding in the first place because of the herds of people who go there. And they had chicken. Piles and piles of chicken. Triumphant, I proceeded to stand in line for about half an hour, during which time I brought myself up to speed with the world by reading the National Enquirer.

Which brings me back to my first point. My current diet relies solely on the contents of my parents' food supply. Today I ate 5 packs of dried seaweed, fried Chinese turnip cake, frozen French fries, rice noodles with beef and bean sprouts, and 5 Venetian cookies. And I feel okay. For now.

No, not everyone is on a diet. Aleta, for example, is only on a sleep-deprivation diet, and both Vivien and Amber eat like horses. Renee and I are on weight watchers, and you are on atkins. That's the grand total.

But I think all of us would drop trou and sing the national anthem at the sight of some pannekoeken dusted with sugar and dripping with butter, much less abandon our diets.

Nothing wrong with Atkins, as long as you keep down the fat content.

Or maybe I just couldn't be bothered with a more complicated diet. At least in the latter phases of this one I don't have to count anything. Math and I do not get along at all.

Is everyone in this blog (on this blog? at this blog?) on a diet of some kind? And does everyone abandon it without a moment's hesitation at the sight of some pannekoeken dusted with sugar and dripping with butter....?

Woah... you know you're on Atkins when... a steak and two eggs?

I turn my back for one second and Gosia turns into a trucker. Sheesh.

Anyway, a great big hello to Gosia, the latest in a long line of ladies who eat pannekoeken.

gosia102 here.

Unfortunately, I arrive at this blog with loss of appetite. Those of you who know me and tolerate me know that this is the first time this has ever happened to me. Ever. For weight loss problems, I recommend attempting to make life-changing decisions. Urk.

To tempt myself, I made sirloin steak marinated in garlic and when it was almost done in the pan, I added two eggs sunny side up. It was okay.

Ladies, help! Turn me back into the chocoholic I know myself to be!!!

Argh... Since coming back to Nederland, I'm back on track with the weight watching. This basically means that I have nothing exciting to report regarding food. Except that I'm not eating that much of it.

Sorry, kids.
