I'm on extended vacation today, this being my first day off in 22 days. Yesterday I was told that I wouldn't be needed to work tomorrow either - which is a nice bonus, though not in terms of $. I suppose I'll need a new assignment soon. Just think! More hilarious stories from awful temp assignments! Joy.

But not until I've finished my U of T teacher's apps.

Speaking of teaching, I had an utterly great day on Monday with my 6's. The first few periods were a bit boring, though I was amused by the crazy sugar crash behaviour of the kids - i.e. hiding from the sunlight & acting all cranky-like. Then there was French, the class where they work on word searches & I circulate. (Man, I miss classes where they expect you to finish a word search for a serious mark). What's good about this time is that the material is a) easy enough for me to grasp despite my 5 year vacation from French and b) not born of my brain, so I don't have to take responsibility for the boredom. It's win/win!

And they were being sooo cute. A few girls complemented me on my pants, something that never fucking happens. It made me inordinately happy. The Nosecracker was being just foolish enough to secretly amuse me without being uncontrollably bratty. And the worst trouble makers were away.

It's too bad I won't be qualified to teach 6's, but you take it where you can get it. Besides, I'd much rather talk about books and ideas for the rest of my life.
