Is "millenium" spelt with one 'n' or two? I'm positive it's only the one 'n.' Two n's seems somehow American and possibly anarchic. (Did you know one of their member assassinated his own president??) I checked the OED, but nothing has been put online and the only place that supports my claim is an online Japanese-English dictionary.

Still, there's something about those two n's I just don't like.

Today I had the highly stultifying job of retyping a human resources booklet into Word. Apparently, they'd hired a freelancer to design the original months ago, but when they needed to make further revisions, they realized that the person had saved the file in Aldus Pagemaker 5 format. Of course, none of the computers at this office had the required program. Hence hours of typing for me. What joy.

My bliss was further compounded by the worry that if I didn't finish the handbook by tomorrow, I'd be double-booked. I had to leave early today to make the timely commute to history class, which made me all the more nervous. There's nothing more agonizing than having to choose between two poorly paid temporary positions. With this in mind, I worked full tilt boogie, giving up breaks and cutting lunch short in order to churn out 1000 formatted words an hour. At the end of this marathon, I was numb & aching. My back & neck hurt & my brain felt more like a lump of meat than usual.

Still, there's something intrinsically amusing about typing a document on the subject of "communication" when the document itself contains hundreds of awkward, poorly-constructed sentences. (Yeah, I know I'm no one to throw stones, but at least I realize bad grammar when I see it.) The best part was the scribbled correction in the proof that changed a correct semicolon to a comma...from concise subordinated clauses to comma splice in one stroke!!

It's rough being me.

Speaking of being me, I can't help but wonder what's going on in Game tonight. I was going to call Dav & catch up, but then I realized that he'd be helping a lot of people pretend to be vampires. After that, I was going to call Stacy...but the same thing applies. Instead I ended up talking to a possible photographer, 2/3 of team bride (i.e. Little Spider & Morgan) and Scott. I figured it was time to touch base with my bridesmaids, as we've barely spoken since September. Them and their "together lives"...hmph! We spent more time together when I lived in the city...oh wait. That's probably it. I'm not quite the exotic locale that I once was. Sighhhh.

At least my p.j.'s love me.
