june 15, 2001.

In honour of yesterday's anniversary, here's some random number-crunching facts about this diary:

  • I have written 976 entries for this journal. 977, counting this one.
  • My most prolific year was 1998, when I wrote 279 entries. That's 76% of the year. Unbelievable.
  • My best month was June 1998: 28 entries. I will never see 93% again.
  • Conversely, my worst month was June 2000: 11 entries. Pathetic.
  • I've written well over a million words in this diary by now. Hemmingway once said that you had to write a million words before your writing began to be acceptable. Is my writing good now? Dunno. I feel better about it now.
  • I have pissed off a huge number of friends with this diary. Those who did not get mad at me at one point or another have not stinted to correct me (Q gave me that cigar, Palaver was not too fat for his underwear, how to spell karaoke, why Peter Parker wouldn't be getting Aquaman's picture, that Rommel was actually the Desert Fox...)
  • There used to be 2 boys looming in the background of my life. When I began writing this journal, I had just broken up with my boyfriend and was still smarting from Poet's lack of interest. I had met my husband once at that point, for a very brief period. Now Poet & I are both married to other people and I've thankfully lost track of my ex.
  • I've had 3 major names: Aleta, Tisiphone & Amoret. I flirted with Allecto and Belphoebe for certain periods, but they never stuck.
  • Since Feburary 18, 1999 I've never had more than 68 visitors in one day (April 23, 2001). On the other hand, I've never had less than 7 (December 26, 2000).
  • I've lived in 7 different homes while writing this journal. I've moved 9 times.
  • I've used 4 main computers, not counting various road computers (work, Ophelia's, Q's, Nic's, the Boy's).
  • I've never quit, though I've thought about it during slow periods. I've gone on hiatus 4 times, usually around exams or holidays.
  • I've completed 24 university courses while writing this journal: 8 full-year and 16 half-year.
  • I've held 12 different jobs. Most of them had something to do with filing and/or answering phones.
  • I've written in 3 languages: English, French & Spanish. But the Spanish came from the AltaVista translator and the French was just grade 10 dilettante stuff.
  • 2000 is the only year in which I did not use the word 'ass' in an entry title at least once.
