Chocolatey, chipey, cookie-y... chocolate chip cookies. Rosemary, I know you don't read this, but I love you. And in other news... goats!

So, I did make it to the Music in my Head festival that night, and checked out a few more bands, I am Kloot, Hooverphonic, Athlete, Ian McCulloch, a couple minutes of Ani Difranco and couple of minutes of Kashmir. All were sort of fun, though I actually found the real fun to be in watching the young hip crowd. One thing to know about young hip people... den haag doesn't really have them. I was pretty sure that they'd imported most of these people from other cities. Frankly, it was a little weird to sit around in Den Haag and look at all the glitter (such as it was anyway. I guess a crowd of kids dressed in 80s clothing with David Beckham's pseudo mohawk and chains on their jeans aren't exciting in other cities, but we take what we can get here). James and I spent part of the evening playing Spot the Ani Fan. We did okay, I think. The game became much easier as the evening wore on and it got closer to Ani time.

Athlete were pretty fun... kind of like a more britpop version of the Beta Band. I am Kloot didn't really make an impression. All I can say is that when I left to go watch Ian McCulloch, I felt pretty good about the decision... until I actually got to Ian McCulloch. He blew an amp early on in the set and spent the rest of it alternating between haranguing the fairly typical Dutch audience for talking too much and telling stupid jokes ("I came from a broken home. Not only did my parents split up but the roof fell in").
It turned out that he was drunk. I'm not an Ani fan, so I had pretty much decided to give Ani a miss, until I thought about it and realised that this was probably the only opportunity I would have to see Ani Difranco without making any effort whatsoever, so I went. I lasted through two songs and then left, surely a better, happier person. She seemed like she would be fun to hang around and she's certainly got balls if she goes on stage with nothing but a guitar, but... well... maybe I'm a sucky feminist, but it really wasn't my thing.

I took some time out after that and listened to Kashmir through the front door. They sounded pretty uninteresting from there, so I eventually headed in to catch Hooverphonic's encore. Maybe if I'd seen the whole thing, I would have found it a bit more exciting, but as it was, they left me curiously unmoved. So, James and I left for the greener pastures of Burger King.

Sunday was spent in a haze of napping, and while I did manage to get a few things done today and actually left the house, today has been spent in similar fashion. I have this Friday off, so hopefully, I'll be going somewhere, though I have a feeling I'm not. I may or may not have promised a friend to dogsit. Sigh. We'll see. More jetset adventures hopefully coming soon.
