The thoughts & opinions of Sassarella, the Queen of Sass as she cavorts in 's Gravenhage & beyond. Brought to you by CES's (Chief Executive Slaves) of Big Skanky Ho Inc.
Have spent the past couple of days in a complete daze. I did Queen's Night in Den Haag, and Queen's Day in Amsterdam, and I have to tell you, it was completely nuts. Sadly, I'm really too tired to write about it. So... coming soon: Adventures in Belgium and Maastricht with my mom, Finland Madness, and Queenapalooza! Thrills! Chills! Full-on entertainment!
No really. Any minute now. posted by Alleen at 1:17:23 AM

I am going to have one serious shitload of stuff to write about when I finally get down to it. To be honest, there's almost no way I'll do anything before the weekend. Today I went to see the Massive Attack show at the Heineken Music Hall. It was one of those shows that fully bore out the theory that how much you enjoy a show is a function of where you stand. At the back of the room, near the bar, apparently the show was pretty middle of the road. Near the stage, where we ended up, was pretty fucking cool.
I wouldn't say that this was the highlight of the evening, but it certainly stood out in my mind: While Massive Attack and company were doing their awesome finale in the form of an extended version of Group Four off Mezzanine, some people about three feet away from me proceeded to have something of a dry hump orgy. Two dreadlock dudes and three short, dark-haired girls were evidently drunk on their own sexuality... and started going at it in the middle of the floor. At one point, one of the guys picked up one of the girls, wrapped her legs around him and then bounced her off his crotch in time to the music. I mean, I saw the end of the show, but not too many of the guys in the audience did. Especially when the ladies started three-way kissing. It was pretty damn distracting, especially since every time I looked back, they had changed configurations. I guess there are some things in life better than a Massive Attack show.
Tomorrow is Queen's Night, the annual celebration of the Queen's birthday (as opposed to the bi-weekly). I have agreed to go party downtown in the Hague where the party is the biggest, since that's where the queen lives. Wednesday is Queen's day where the whole of Amsterdam turns into a flea market, which, hey, I can't resist. Thursday I'm told the French court reporters, who have been fired en masse, are throwing a party, and Friday, I'm hoping to go see Frida. We'll see how all this goes. Hopefully, Saturday I won't get out of bed.
For those of you who are interested. The soy ice cream I ate was called TofuIce, by a company called Ingman. Honestly, it's seriously yummy. If you find this stuff in Toronto, buy it... especially the chocolate vanilla mix and/or the chocolate-covered vanilla ice cream bars. Way way way better than Tofutti or Rice Dream or anything else I've had so far. I shit you not. Unfortunately, I have a suspicion that since their website is only in Finnish and Swedish, this is only available in Finland. But it is wonderful.
Also, Alpro Soya makes pudding cups and they are also awesome (though I will admit, nowhere near as good as the TofuIce). I actually stocked up while I was in Finland because they were so good. I only wish I could have brought some of the ice cream.... sigh....
Anyway, the next entry should have something actually about Finland itself, believe it or not. posted by Alleen at 12:46:46 PM
