Yay! I finally had something resembling a full night of sleep! I went to bed at 3am and woke up at... wait for it... 10am!

I have to say, I feel mich refreshed. Maybe tonight I'll manage to go to sleep even earlier and wake up even later. This weekend can only get better.

Speaking of which, I've discovered that Massive Attack is playing in Amsterdam in April to kick off a world tour. I may have to buy some tickets this weekend, if they are indeed on sale yet. I'm actually pretty excited. Also, I'm going to Edinburgh next weekend and for once, I actually know somebody in the city. Sometime during my second year in university, Aleta and a bunch of people at her residence started bugging me to meet Lena, who lived in their residence and had the dubious honour of being the only other Armenian they knew. They were completely insistent that we would know each other, and both of us, on our respective ends, insisted that we probably wouldn't. There's something like 10 million Armenians in the world, so chances were that there was no connection. Within five minutes of our momentous meeting, we had discovered that her mom was really good friends with my aunt. Six degrees of Armenian. Fun stuff.

The point is, I have a place to stay and someone to hang out with a little bit, which is cool.

In the meantime, here is a picture of a lion being eaten by birds in Milan.

See? I did do something other than buy shoes.

Yesterday, I had the worst night of sleep I've ever had in my life, compounded by the fact that I had to be up at nine. I finally ended up dosing myself with Tylenol Cold at 5am on the off chance that it would put me to sleep. It didn't.

On the plus side, I somehow got my remaining radiator to work which means that my apartment is now considerably warmer and I don't have to rearrange the furniture anymore. Yay! Never a dull moment in my jetset life.

In the meantime, here are some pictures of Budapest.

Pretty sexy, huh?

The top one was actually taken by Kate, from a cafe where I ate a vile sacher torte, but had a tasty coffee. The other was taken by me basically from the same spot but facing away from the river. It was a really nice place to sit.

Sick sick sick. Jetlag combined with upset stomach combined with freezing cold apartment makes for unhappy Alleen. What this means, basically, is this: I'm not going to write about my Toronto adventures, partially because there's just too much to write about and partially because I'm a big lazy suck. Also, due to the continuing adventures of my digestive system, I've had to give in and buy a bottle of Schweppes ginger ale. I'm drinking it as I type and all I have to say is that it sucks. It sucks monkey ass. Anyone who knows me knows of my love and admiration for the good people at Canada Dry (which isn't available here, though you can get it in freakin' Hungary, if that makes any sense). It was a wrench to buy this stuff, but I was sick dammit. Very sick. I needed help. I'm sorry, Canada Dry. I'm scum, horrible traitorous scum.

Sigh.

It is working though. I do feel better. Damn you, Schweppes.

Anyway, I've been staying in the past couple of days, basically laying low because my hours are so fucked up that I'm really only completely awake after most stores and activities are closed. I have been doing little things that I've put off for too long and am currently contemplating rearranging my apartment so as to put my couch closer to the radiator that's still working. I stayed up until 5:30am the other day and made three new album covers. Apparently less sleep is good for my creativity, so, hey, anything for my art. It may be time to invest in some coffee.

This is Junior. I got to meet Junior for the first time on this trip to Toronto. I really enjoyed hanging out with him, so y'all can enjoy looking at him. Right now, he's eating some gross baby food. Like his dad, he has a mighty appreciation for eating.

I know. He is really cute.

Blarg.

Back in the Netherlands... sooooooo tired...

Thankfully, I don't have to work until Thursday. Wish I'd known that last week. So tired.
